Biggest Critic

I hear your laughs,
Your snickers and grins,
Your insults,
You are my biggest critic,
My deadliest enemy,
My unstoppable foe,
Everything I craft from this pen,
You put your thumbs down,
You are unimpressed,
Unsatisfied,
Every word that I say from the lead in my pencil,
You are unconvinced,
So I guess I have to stop,
Break all my pencils,
Burn every single notebook that I filled over the years,
The Mad Writer is done…
The Mad Writer is dead…
You would like that, wouldn’t you?
Not in a billion years,
Not even in a trillion years,
I will still write,
I will continue to craft these words of gold,
Just because my work doesn’t fancy you,
Or it doesn’t please you,
I’ll stand up,
After you knock me out on the battlefield,
I’m doing what I love,
What I eat and breathe everyday of my life,
I know that as long as I keep writing,
You’ll keep snarling at my work,
But I won’t listen,
To your biting criticism,
I’ll be an incessant force of writing,
That only stops for food breaks,
Biggest critic,
The bigger they are,
The harder they fall,
You can say what you want to say,
But I’ll still rise through your sea of words,
And stand on top,
And leave a shinning trail behind me,
With you in the dust,
With me on fire,
Keep talking stuff,
I’ll just write more and more.
